Is it permissible to use ointments to enlarge the breasts?

If the purpose of breast augmentation is to increase beauty and attractiveness, then it is impermissible, as it constitutes altering Allah's creation. However, if small size causes embarrassment and distress, there is no harm in enlarging them, provided it does not cause harm. Treating this with ointments is less severe than surgery.

The general rule in cosmetic matters is to differentiate between removing a defect and enhancing beauty. Removing a defect is permissible, such as removing breast protrusion if it causes embarrassment, or correcting a deviated nose, or implanting an artificial nose. However, enhancing beauty is not permissible, and this includes breast augmentation for cosmetic purposes, unless the small size of the breast prevents breastfeeding a child.
