How does my mother purify the money remaining from her 'Umrah, a portion of which was mixed with part of her salary and part of usurious bank interest, as she is preparing for Hajj, knowing that she has stopped taking usurious interest? Should she give half the amount as charity if half of it is from interest? And should the value of the Riyal be calculated at its old price or its current price, and what is the alternative if she cannot give it out at the current price? And what should she do with the money she spent from bank interest over the years?

Your mother must offer sincere repentance for engaging in and consuming usury, and she must dispose of all usurious money that is in her possession. If she does not know its exact amount, she should investigate and give away what she believes will clear her liability. If she earned the money in a currency other than the Riyal, she can give away its equivalent value in Riyals at the current exchange rate. If she has repented but is unable to dispose of the illicit money, her repentance is sufficient for her.
