What is the ruling on naming Mount Arafat "Jabal al-Rahmah" (Mount of Mercy), and does this naming have any basis?

I am not aware of any basis for this name in the , so it should not be used. Perhaps those who named it so considered the momentousness of the occasion and Allah’s forgiveness and mercy towards the pilgrims. It is more appropriate to say: Mount Arafat, or the mountain where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood.
