What is the reason for changing the location of the Jamarat (place of stoning the devil) which Muslims used to stone during Hajj, and its transfer to the foot of Mount Arafat?

The marker located in Mina, whether old or new, is an indicator of the place for stoning the jamarāt and not the jamrah itself. What matters is the collection of pebbles, not the marker. Some people's attempt to exaggerate the significance of this marker is an exploitation of simple folk and a deception upon them. As for the claim that the marker on Mount Arafat was moved from the jamarāt of Mina, it is incorrect and a mere assertion. The marker (flag) on Mount Arafat has existed since an early period, predating the modern history of the Two Holy Cities. It was mentioned by ancient historians and travelers such as Yaqut al-Hamawi, al-Bishari, and others, and this marker is still present.
