What the questioner mentioned about pilgrims stoning the at the grave of Abu Righal is incorrect. Rather, they stone the Jamarat in emulation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in obedience to his command, and in remembrance of what happened to Abraham, upon him be peace, when Satan appeared to him and he pelted him with seven pebbles. As for Abu Righal, he was a man from Ta'if sent by Thaqif with Abraha al-Habashi to guide him on the way. He died and was buried in a place called "Al-Mughammas," and the Arabs used to stone his grave there. His grave is not in Mina near the Jamarat.
