Why has jurisprudence been limited to men, to the exclusion of women?

The Shari'ah did not restrict fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) to men. The Prophet (peace be upon him) dedicated a day to teaching women, and there have been many female jurists in the Ummah, foremost among them being Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the most knowledgeable woman in fiqh in the Ummah. In reality, however, the fiqh knowledge of women is less than that of men due to the nature of women's circumstances and their staying in their homes, which reduces their opportunity to learn and directly consult scholars, and perhaps also due to their own shortcomings in seeking knowledge.
