Is it permissible to use contact lens solution that contains 0.1% of an alcoholic substance, and would the questioner be sinful if she used it while being able to wear glasses? And is the entry of some toothpaste into the pharynx – if it is proven to contain an alcoholic substance – considered like drinking alcohol in terms of the rulings on prayer and acts of worship?

If the disinfectant solution for contact lenses and toothpaste contain a small percentage of alcohol, which does not manifest in color, taste, or odor, then their use is permissible. The fatwas of the Permanent Committee have stipulated the permissibility of using medicines mixed with alcohol if its percentage is small and its effect is not apparent. As for colored contact lenses, they are not considered an alteration of Allah's creation as long as they are not permanent, but it is conditional upon consulting a doctor and ensuring that they do not make the eye resemble the eye of an animal.
