What is the ruling on the widespread letters that include the story of a shaykh who saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream, and request that they be copied and distributed to guarantee success, sustenance, and the intercession of the Messenger, while warning that not spreading them will lead to a calamity or deprivation of intercession?

This alleged will is a lie with no basis in truth, and a Muslim must tear it up and warn against it. Satan might tempt a servant if something happens to him afterwards, making him think that the misfortune was due to destroying the will. However, he must know that what befell him is by the decree of Allah. Whoever wrote it or participated in distributing it has committed a clear sin and cooperated in sin. Sheikh Ibn Baz has issued a fatwa stating that this leaflet is a lie with no basis in truth; rather, it is one of the fabrications of liars, and it is not permissible to distribute it because it is an objectionable innovation and a lie against Allah. It is obligatory upon Muslims to tear it up, destroy it, and warn against it. Whoever writes it or distributes it incurs sin for cooperating in sin and aggression.
