What is the ruling on nutmeg (adding it to food)?

Ibn Hajar al-Haytami issued a fatwa regarding nutmeg, stating that it is an intoxicant, and he relayed this from Ibn Daqiq al-Eid, emphasizing that later Shafi'i and Maliki scholars adopted this view. Furthermore, Ibn al-Imad analogized it to hashish, which is unanimously forbidden, thereby affirming the prohibition of nutmeg due to its intoxicating or narcotic effect. The Hanbalis agreed with the Malikis and Shafi'is concerning its intoxicating nature, as stated by Ibn Taymiyyah.
