Is it reprehensible to build a house facing the Qibla?

There is no objection to building a house with its front facing the Qibla, as the general rule for things is permissibility unless there is evidence to prohibit it, and there is no evidence that forbids this. However, there is a prohibition against facing the Qibla when relieving oneself, and it is preferable for restrooms in homes not to face the Qibla, so that one does not face the Qibla when relieving oneself therein.
