What is the ruling on facing or backing the Qibla when relieving oneself inside homes, given the presence of latrines and bathrooms in the direction of the Qibla, and in light of the noble Hadith: "Do not face the Qibla with your back or front when defecating or urinating, but rather turn to the east or west"?

The authentic Ahadith clearly prohibit facing or turning one's back to the Qiblah when relieving oneself in open areas. However, regarding indoor settings (buildings), scholars have differed. Some have permitted it, based on the action of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Hafsah's house, where he relieved himself facing Al-Sham and with his back to the Kaaba. Others have stated that it is obligatory not to face or turn one's back to the Qiblah at all, whether indoors or in open areas, acting upon the general Ahadith. The most probable view is that facing or turning one's back to the Qiblah is forbidden in open areas, but permissible indoors, especially in cases of hardship, although it is better to avoid it.
