Does frequent seeking of forgiveness (Istighfar) increase sustenance, or is that exclusive to the people of Noah, according to the noble verse: "And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continual] showers. And give you increase in wealth and children and make for you gardens and make for you rivers'" (71:10-12)? And is simply saying "Astaghfirullah Al-Atheem" (I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty) sufficient as a form of Istighfar to achieve these promises?

Seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) is a means of obtaining sustenance and is not exclusive to the people of Noah; rather, it is for all Muslims. It is one of the greatest causes for rainfall and the acquisition of various forms of sustenance, such as wealth, children, gardens, and flowing rivers. Al-Shawkani and Al-Razi mentioned that faith in Allah brings together for believers prosperity and richness in this world, in addition to an abundant share in the Hereafter. Istighfar can be achieved through any wording that indicates it, and the more a Muslim engages in it, the more their good deeds and sustenance increase. It is preferable that Istighfar be recited using the formulas authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him).
