Worship is accepted through sincerity to Allah the Almighty and following the Prophet (peace be upon him). There are three types of rites (nusuk): 1. Tamattu': Entering into ihram for Umrah during the months of Hajj, then desacralizing, then entering into ihram for Hajj from Makkah on the Day of Tarwiyah. 2. Ifrad: Entering into ihram for Hajj alone, and remaining in ihram until the Day of Eid. 3. Qiran: Entering into ihram for Umrah and Hajj together. The pilgrim performing Qiran performs the same actions as the one performing Ifrad, but must offer a sacrifice (hady). Tamattu is the most preferable.

Acts of Hajj: Ihram: He performs ghusl (ritual bath), applies perfume, and prays, then enters into ihram according to the intention for the chosen rite (nusuk), and recites the talbiyah. It is sunnah to stipulate a condition for one who fears an impediment. Tawaf and Say: He performs ghusl upon entering Makkah, then performs tawaf around the Kaaba and say between Safa and Marwah (for Umrah for the mutamatti, and for Hajj for the mufrid and qarin). Desacralization (for the mutamatti): He shaves or shortens his hair after the say, and desacralizes. The mufrid and qarin do not desacralize. Day of Tarwiyah (8th of Dhul-Hijjah): The mutamatti enters into ihram for Hajj from his location in Makkah, then everyone proceeds to Mina and prays Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr there, shortened but not combined. Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah): The pilgrims proceed to Arafah after sunrise, and pray Dhuhr and Asr combined and shortened (jam taqdim), then devote themselves to supplication and remembrance until sunset. Muzdalifah: After sunset, they proceed to Muzdalifah, and pray Maghrib and Isha combined and delayed (jam takhir) with one adhan and two iqamahs, and spend the night there. They pray Fajr early, then proceed to Al-Mashar Al-Haram or supplicate in their place until dawn. Day of Sacrifice (10th of Dhul-Hijjah): They proceed from Muzdalifah to Mina before sunrise. They stone Jamrat al-Aqabah with seven pebbles, saying "Allahu Akbar" with each pebble. Then they offer the sacrifice (hady) and shave or shorten their hair. This constitutes the first desacralization. Tawaf al-Ifadah and Say: They descend to Makkah and perform Tawaf al-Ifadah and Say for Hajj. This constitutes the second desacralization. Days of Tashriq (11th, 12th, 13th of Dhul-Hijjah): They spend the night in Mina, and stone the three Jamarat (the small, the middle, and the large) after Dhuhr each day with seven pebbles for each Jamarah, supplicating after the small and middle Jamarat. Expediting or Delaying: It is permissible for the pilgrim to expedite on the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah before sunset, or to delay to spend the night and stone on the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah. Tawaf al-Wada: It is obligatory for anyone wishing to leave Makkah to perform Tawaf al-Wada (Farewell Tawaf), except for menstruating and postpartum women.

Prohibitions of Ihram: Not removing any hair or nails. Not applying perfume. Not hunting game. Not engaging in sexual intercourse or direct physical contact with desire. Not contracting marriage or proposing. Not wearing gloves. For men: Not covering the head with anything that clings, and not wearing sewn clothing. For women: Not wearing the niqab or burqa, and she uncovers her face unless non-mahram men are present.
