No specific city in Palestine has been singled out for its virtue, but the texts indicate the blessing of the land surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque, as in the Almighty's saying: "Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from Al-Masjid Al- to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed," and His saying: "And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds." Many hadiths also mention the virtue of Sham (Greater Syria), among them: "Sham is the land of gathering and resurrection," and "Hold fast to Sham, for it is Allah's choicest land on His earth."
