Metaphor is taking something from its owner as a loan, and in rhetoric, it is using a word in other than its original meaning due to a resemblance between them. It is a type of figurative language abundant in the Holy Quran because it was revealed in a clear Arabic tongue. Examples include His Almighty's saying: (Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment), and His saying: (And they found therein a wall about to collapse), and His saying: (And grant me a reputation of truth among later generations), and His saying: (and elevated couches), and His saying: (And [by] the dawn when it breathes).
