Is the fast of one from whom semen was emitted unintentionally while he was attempting to masturbate during the daytime in Ramadan invalidated, and is he required to offer expiation or make up the fast, and does the hadith apply to him: "I was presented to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of Uhud for fighting, and I was fourteen years old, and he did not permit me. And I was presented on the day of Al-Khandaq (the Trench), and I was fifteen years old, and he permitted me," knowing that he has completed his fourteenth year and some signs of puberty have appeared on him?

1. The emission of semen and the growth of pubic hair are two signs of puberty. Puberty is attained by the emission of semen, regardless of its quantity, and whether it is discharged with desire or without, or through intercourse, a wet dream, or other means. Similarly, the growth of coarse hair on the pubic area alone is sufficient to indicate puberty. 2. Masturbation in Ramadan (definition) invalidates the fast and necessitates making up the day (qada'), but not expiation (kaffarah (definition)). The intention to masturbate is what matters, even if the emission was not specifically intended. 3. Ibn Umar's hadith (definition) regarding the age of fifteen as a marker for puberty does not apply to someone who has already shown other signs of puberty, such as the emission of semen. Such a person is considered an adult even if they have not yet completed their fifteenth year.
