Is it permissible for a man to divorce his wife for apostatizing from the religion, raising her voice at him and hitting him, and her frequent departures from the home without his knowledge under the pretext of taking her mother somewhere?

If a woman apostatizes, for instance, by cursing the religion, or the Lord, or the Messenger, her marriage is annulled, and it is impermissible for her husband to cohabit with her. If she repents before the expiration of her waiting period (iddah), she returns to her husband with her original marriage contract. The husband does not need to divorce her after her apostasy because the marriage is automatically annulled. As for her screaming at or hitting her husband, or leaving the house without his permission, this constitutes nushuz (disobedience), which warrants her disciplining according to Islamic law. If she does not repent, the husband may divorce her, which is permissible even if disliked when there is no necessity.
