What is the ruling regarding my staying in my family's home and refusing to return to my husband's home because I desire to live in a separate house, knowing that my husband does not pray, watches pornographic videos, and his family controls my life?

It is the right of the wife upon her husband that he provide her with a suitable and independent dwelling, in which no one from his family shares with her. This is the view of the majority of jurists. The wife should communicate with her husband and make it clear to him that the demand for an independent dwelling is her right. She should also strive to reform her husband and help him repent from abandoning prayer and watching forbidden things. If the husband does not repent from these abominations, then it is more appropriate for the wife to separate from him through divorce or khul'.
