Is the wife obligated to serve her husband's parents in household chores, such as laundry, cooking, and cleaning, knowing that she has never served her own parents or family before and finds it difficult to do so?
Legally, the wife is not obliged to serve her husband's parents. However, out of good companionship, she should serve them by preparing food and washing clothes. Allah commanded beneficence even to those with whom one has only a transient travel relationship, saying: "And worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, and be good to parents, and to relatives, and orphans, and the needy, and the neighbor who is a kinsman, and the neighbor who is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are conceited and boastful." The husband's parents are more deserving of beneficence and kindness, especially if they do not have daughters.
