Is saying "I pledge to You, Allah" while thinking of something considered a binding oath, and what is the meaning of a binding oath by intention?

An "oath with an intention" (yamin mun'aqidah) is one where the swearer intends to achieve something by mentioning a name of Allah or one of His attributes, either to do something or to refrain from doing it. As for "covenanting with Allah," many scholars consider it a valid oath if it comes in the form of an oath. However, merely saying "I covenant with You, O Allah," is not considered an oath. One should turn away from these delusions and doubts, for they are from the whisperings of Satan.
