What is the authenticity of the tradition narrated from Ibn Abbas: “Whoever loves horses will arrive before Allah the Almighty on horses that neither excrete nor urinate, their reins made of red ruby, green chrysolite, and white pearls, and their saddles of fine silk and brocade. And whoever loves riding camels will arrive on noble camels that neither excrete nor urinate, their bridles made of ruby and chrysolite. And whoever loves riding ships will arrive on ships made of ruby, having been secured from drowning and from terrors,” which is mentioned in Al-Qurtubi’s Tafsir? And are there authenticated versions of Al-Qurtubi’s Tafsir?

Al-Qurtubi mentioned in his Tafsir, on the authority of Abu Nasr Al-Qushairi, from Ibn Abbas, that whoever loved riding horses in this world, will arrive before Allah on horses that neither tremble nor urinate, their bridles made of ruby, chrysolite, and pearls, and their saddles of fine silk and brocade. And whoever loved riding camels, will ride on noble she-camels that neither defecate nor urinate, their reins made of ruby and chrysolite. And whoever loved riding ships, will be on ships of chrysolite and ruby, having been secured from drowning and terrors.

We have not found any origin for this narration, nor do we know of it being transmitted with a sound or weak chain of narration. No scholar has transmitted it except Al-Qurtubi from Abu Nasr Al-Qushairi, and Al-Qurtubi did not mention a chain of narration for it. Such a narration holds no proof, and it is not permissible to transmit it except with a clarification that its responsibility lies with its narrator. Among the best editions of Al-Qurtubi's Tafsir is the edition from Dar Al-Kutub Al-Misriyah, which was photographed by Dar Alam Al-Kutub. This is in terms of the care given to the text and its quality. As for the authentication of its hadiths and distinguishing the sound from the weak, we are not aware of any edition that has fulfilled this aspect so far.
