Is it permissible to trim the beard—so that it is close to the skin—if working in companies requires it?

Scholars have differed on taking from the beard, some permitting it and others prohibiting it. The least that can be said about trimming it is that it is disliked (makrooh), and this dislike is removed in case of necessity. So, if you are in need of working for this company and they stipulate that you trim your beard, then it is permissible for you to do so, provided that you do not shave it completely. You should, however, strive to find work that does not impose such a condition on you.
