Is the reward of one who meets the needs of the needy with the money of benefactors the same as the reward of one who meets them with his own money?

Charity (sadaqah) is not obligatory simply by intention. If one resolves to give charity and then decides against it, they are not obligated to follow through, though it is recommended. However, retracting after having resolved to give may be a sign of blameworthy stinginess. One who strives to fulfill the needs of the indigent is rewarded like the one who gives charity, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever guides to good is like the one who does it."
