What should I do to remain steadfast in my refusal to shake hands with men, and is my not mingling with my family, who oppose me in this, considered disobedience to parents?

It is advisable to remain steadfast in religion and adhere to its teachings in times of estrangement, and to supplicate continuously. One should be gentle in addressing opponents and inform them of the words of scholars and fatwas without shyness in adhering to the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and without allowing abuse. Do not abandon your studies or tasks; rather, continue your life normally, for the believer who mingles with people and endures their harm is better than one who does not mingle with them. As for those who do not cease causing harm, there is no sin in abandoning them if associating with them brings harm.
