What is the ruling regarding someone who wants to divorce his wife before consummating the marriage, because she works as a teacher for males and females in secondary school, even though he knew about this and gave his prior consent?

The basic principle concerning divorce is that it is abhorrent, but if there is a need for it, then it is permissible. A husband divorcing his wife because she works in a mixed-gender school is permissible, and it necessitates the payment of half the sadaq (dowry) if the divorce occurs before consummation. The husband is advised not to rush into divorce and to try to convince his wife to leave this job. The wife is also advised to obey her husband and seek another job, or to leave the job if her maintenance is sufficiently provided for. The husband has the right to prevent his wife from going out to work after consummation unless she stipulated that in the marriage contract. A woman working in a place where there is khulwa (private seclusion) or suspicious mixing with men is forbidden.
