What is the ruling on modern haircuts for men (innovative styles and those copied from the West)?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade Al-Qaza', which is shaving part of the hair and leaving part of it. Some scholars interpreted this prohibition as a matter of dislike (karaha). The prohibition is further emphasized and the حرمة (prohibition/sacredness) becomes stronger if it involves imitating disbelievers.
