Is it permissible to perform the Eid prayer on the second day of Eid?

There is no harm in performing the 'Eid prayer on the second day in two situations: if one missed the prayer due to forgetfulness or a valid excuse that has ceased to exist, or if trustworthy witnesses testified to seeing the crescent moon after sunset or at a time before it when prayer was not feasible.
