What is the difference between the immediate glad tidings for the believer and the gifts that come to a person from Allah through people in return for a good deed he has done? The urgent glad tidings for the believer manifest in righteous deeds performed with sincerity for Allah. This is evident in people’s praise of him and their joy in him, in righteous dreams, in people’s love for him and their contentment with him, and in the expansion of his chest and the tranquility of his soul for performing good deeds. These matters are considered signs of Allah's love and acceptance of the servant’s deeds, for He hastens glad tidings for him in this world and reserves ample reward for him in the Hereafter. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, indicated that "when Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel: 'Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so love him...' Then acceptance is placed for him on Earth." Also, people's praise of him for the good he does is "the urgent glad tidings for the believer." These hastened glad tidings are proof of Allah's pleasure and love for the servant, and they differ from any material or worldly compensation a person might receive as a result of his work. The sincere praise and love placed in people's hearts are the essence of these glad tidings.
