What is the response to those who believe that the prohibition of alcohol is not an abrogation of the verse: "And do not approach prayer while you are in a state of drunkenness," but rather a completion of it, and that Allah cannot legislate a command and then abolish it, and therefore they do not believe in abrogation (nasikh) and what is abrogated (mansukh)?

None have denied abrogation except the Jews and later sects affiliated with Islam. The invalidity of their claim has been demonstrated by verses indicating the occurrence of abrogation, such as His saying, the Most High: "Whatever a verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it," and His saying: "And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse." In addition, specific rulings have been abrogated, such as the waiting period for a widow, from one year to four months and ten days.
