Is it Islamically permissible for the butcher to slaughter the sacrificial animal while it is standing on its feet to facilitate his work?

For an animal to be lawful (halal) for consumption, three conditions must be met: invoking Allah's name upon it at the time of slaughter (tasmiyah), causing the blood to flow, and the slaughterer being a Muslim or a person of the Book (Christian or Jew). Anything beyond these concerning the method of slaughter is a Sunnah (prophetic tradition). The Sunnah is to differentiate between camels (which are slaughtered while standing by thrusting a knife into the jugular vein – nahr) and sheep and cattle (which are slaughtered while lying down – dhabh). However, if an animal that is typically nahr-ed is dhabh-ed, or vice versa, it is permissible, and this does not affect the validity of the slaughtered animal.
