Marriage with the intention of divorce is permissible according to the preponderant opinion if the husband conceals this intention and does not declare it in the contract, because the contract in this case fulfills its conditions and is not time-bound. However, if the spouses agree upon a specific duration or a purpose upon the fulfillment of which the marriage will end, then this is not permissible; it falls under the category of the forbidden Nikah al-Mut'ah (temporary marriage), even if not explicitly stated in the contract, because what matters is the agreement between the spouses, and the contract would be religiously invalid. Thus, the contract is فاسد (fasid - corrupt or invalid) if both spouses are aware of the intention to temporize the marriage. Therefore, marriage must be entered into with a sound intention, without specifying a time or a particular purpose.
