What is the ruling on delaying a prayer past its prescribed time and making it up at the time of the next prayer, and what is the ruling on performing the Fajr prayer after its prescribed time, or after the Dhuhr or Asr prayer, or any other prayer on the same day?

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam. Whoever safeguards it will succeed and be saved, and whoever neglects it will fail and lose. Abandoning it or being negligent about it carries a severe warning. Allah Almighty says: "There succeeded them a later generation who neglected prayers and pursued desires; so they are going to meet Ghayyā [a valley in Hell]" and "So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer". Part of safeguarding it is performing it at its appointed time, for Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a timed ordinance." Whoever intentionally delays prayer until its time has passed has committed a great sin, one of the major sins.
