Is it permissible for the wife to leave her parents' house – where her husband resides with her, but he has abandoned the marital home – to visit relatives or attend religious gatherings, and is the father's permission sufficient instead of the husband's, who does not respond to her calls?

A woman is commanded to obey her husband and not to leave his house except with his permission, even if the house is borrowed or rented from her family. This is conditional on the husband providing for her. If the husband is absent and does not prevent his wife from visiting her relatives, then she may go out to them. As for attending gatherings of remembrance (dhikr), it is not permissible to go out to them unless there is an urgent need to learn a religious ruling and that cannot be done except by going out. The wife must avoid everything that displeases her husband.
