Is letting one's trousers drag on the ground considered an act of ignorance, or a major sin, given that the perpetrator has repented and shown remorse?

"Everything that extends below the ankles, whether it is a shirt, an izar (lower garment), trousers, or pants, falls under the category of isbal (letting one's garment hang below the ankles), due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: 'Whatever of the izar extends below the ankles is in the Fire.' One who is ignorant of the prohibition of isbal is not considered to have committed a major sin, but he is sinful for his action and for his negligence in seeking knowledge. Ignorance is an excuse that removes accountability if the matter is obscure, or if the ignorant person is new to Islam. However, one who lives in an environment where knowledge is widespread is not excused by his ignorance and is sinful for his failure to learn."
