There is no impediment to the mother praying in the room where the father is, as long as she prays in a pure spot within it. The presence of impurity on the father's bedding does not harm, because the purity of the place, which is a condition for prayer, refers to what the worshipper touches, not what is around him. It is better for her to keep away from impurity and choose a place free from it. Prayer does not cease to be obligatory for the father as long as his intellect remains, and he prays according to his ability. If he loses his intellect, then prayer is no longer obligatory for him.
