The question

Is a girl considered disobedient to her father if she prays for his death, screams in his face, and refuses to fulfill his requests, due to his ill-treatment of them, stealing money, drinking alcohol, teaching them theft and lies, and attempting to incite his relatives to molest his daughters, or is she excused in this? And how can she rid herself of this problem?

The answer

You must be dutiful and kind to your father, even if he is an infidel. A child's praying for the death of his father is one of the worst forms of disobedience. A father's mistreatment of his child does not justify the child's mistreatment of him. You must repent to Allah and seek your father's forgiveness. If a father favors one child over others in giving gifts, he is doing wrong; his duty is to treat all his children equally. A father's attempt to teach theft and lying, and his drinking of alcohol, is a grave evil. It is recommended to pray for his repentance and guidance, and to advise him gently, reminding him of his responsibility towards his children.
