What is the ruling on the money that the wife's grandmother receives as a retirement pension from France, given that her husband previously worked as a waiter in a liquor bar for 11 years and then in a cement factory for two and a half years?

It is forbidden to work in liquor bars as a seller or a server, due to the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cursed ten regarding intoxicants." The salary taken from this work is also forbidden. An exception is made for a worker who was ignorant of the prohibition; his salary and compensation for the period he spent in ignorance of the prohibition are permissible for him, based on the Almighty's saying: "So whoever receives an admonition from his Lord and desists, he may have what has already passed."

As for a salary resulting from forbidden work, it is forbidden only for its earner. However, if it transfers to his heirs through a permissible means, such as inheritance, then it becomes permissible for them to benefit from it.
