Black magic involves the use of incantations, talismans, and knots to seek the assistance of devils in order to influence hearts and bodies. It is forbidden and one of the gravest destructive sins (al-kaba'ir al-mubiqat), as stated in the Prophet's (peace be upon him) : "Avoid the seven destructive sins," and he mentioned magic among them. This type of magic contradicts faith due to the polytheistic elements it contains, such as worshipping devils or seeking their aid. Allah Almighty has also stated in the Quran that magic is disbelief and harmful.
