Is the belief that the "Kaff Maryam" (Anastatica hierochuntica) plant brings sustenance considered polytheism (shirk) with Allah Almighty, despite the fact that sustenance is in Allah's hands and the plant is merely a means among other means?

The herb Chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus) has medicinal benefits related to facilitating childbirth and alleviating premenstrual symptoms. It has no connection to bringing sustenance (rizq) or arranging marriages for daughters. This is a superstitious and illusory belief. The attribution of causality to something must be based either on religious texts (Shari'ah) or direct empirical observation. Believing that something which is not a cause is, in fact, a cause, is considered minor polytheism (shirk (definition) asghar) because it involves sharing in Allah's prerogative to ordain. If one believes that it is inherently effective on its own, then it is major polytheism (shirk akbar). Allah may test a person by granting good after the commission of a forbidden act, leading the person to believe that the forbidden act was the cause. Satan may also contribute to such a misconception. Those who hold these superstitions must repent to Allah and clarify the truth to those they have misled.
