It has been clarified that it is not permissible to interrupt a fard (obligatory) prayer, and there is a difference of opinion regarding the permissibility of interrupting a supererogatory prayer. As for making the tasleem (salutation of peace) when interrupting the prayer, the worshiper may exit with a salam or by an action that invalidates the prayer, as there is no evidence indicating the necessity of either. If the prayer becomes invalid due to ritual impurity (hadath) or the like, then the person does not need to make the tasleem at that point.
