What is the ruling of Islam regarding a husband divorcing his wife without cause, and what are the wife's rights resulting from such a divorce?

The basic ruling on divorce is permissibility, but it may deviate from this for some reasons, becoming forbidden, reprehensible, recommended, or obligatory. If the matter is merely a result of intrusive thoughts and the mother or sister were not the cause of the divorce, then there is no sin upon them. It is not permissible for the mother or sister to be a cause for divorce and separation between the spouses. It is not permissible for the husband to obey his sister in the matter of divorcing his wife. As for the mother, scholars have differed on whether obedience to her is obligatory in this regard or not. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah issued a fatwa stating that it is not permissible to obey the mother in this matter.
