What is the ruling on uttering an allusion to divorce while doubting the intention of divorce, and is one who is afflicted by obsessive doubts and excessive skepticism held accountable for what he says in prayer, divorce, or other acts of worship?
There are two types of divorce: explicit and implicit. Explicit divorce, such as uttering the word "Taliq" (divorced), brings about divorce even if there was no intention. Implicit divorce, such as saying "Go back to your family," does not bring about divorce unless there was an intention to divorce, or if there is an indication like anger or the wife's request for divorce, in which case it brings about divorce even if there was no intention. If one doubts whether he intended divorce, then it does not occur. And whoever is afflicted with obsessive doubts in his words or beliefs is not held accountable for any of that, such as doubting whether divorce occurred.
