Does loving one's wife, who aids in obedience and the pursuit of knowledge and does not hinder one from obeying Allah, contradict loving Allah (Exalted be He)? And does this love for her mean that she has taken over one's heart?

Love can be of two types: praiseworthy and permissible, or blameworthy and forbidden. Love for Allah and His Messenger is an individual obligation (fardh 'ayn) and a condition for faith, and it necessitates obedience. Love for believers and the righteous is an act of drawing closer to Allah. Love for one's wife, children, and family is innate and does not contradict the love of Allah and His Messenger, as long as it does not exceed its bounds, lead to neglecting rights, or committing forbidden acts. Rather, the love of Allah and His Messenger must be in the first rank.
