How did Imam Malik interpret the Hadith of the Two Qullahs, knowing that his Madhhab holds that water does not become impure unless one of its characteristics changes?

Al-Hattab, in "Mawahib al-Jalil," discussed the Maliki stance on the hadith of the two qullahs, clarifying that its chains of transmission are considered defective by Ibn Abd al-Barr, while a group of Shafi'is deemed it authentic. The Malikis believe that it does not contradict the hadith narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, which is agreed upon as authentic, and that the hadith of the two qullahs relies on a concept (mafhum) that is not acted upon if it is contradicted by a stronger evidence. Al-Ghazali pointed out that the condition of the two qullahs is a source of obsessive doubt, and he argued against this condition by citing another hadith, the Prophet's (peace be upon him) allowing a cat to drink from a vessel, and Umar's ablution from a Christian woman's jar.
