What should a mother do if her daughter places her toys in front of her on the prayer rug?

The worshiper must strive to attain khushu' (devotional humility) and remove anything that distracts them. 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed in a khamisa (a black woollen garment) that had markings, and he said: 'These markings distracted me. Take it to Abu Jahm and bring me an anbijaniya (a thick, plain garment without markings).'"

Al-Nawawi said: "The meaning of these words is similar, which is the heart being preoccupied with it, preventing complete presence in prayer, and pondering its adhkar (remembrances), recitation, and its objectives of submission and humility. This encourages the presence of the heart in prayer... and the removal of anything that is feared to preoccupy the heart."

Therefore, the mother should remove her daughter's toys when praying so that her heart is not distracted. Her prayer is valid even if she prays with the toys in front of her.
