What is the ruling on keeping some toys in the home in a private place away from areas of prayer, sitting, and eating?

There is no objection to placing non-pictorial children's toys anywhere in the house and praying in the place where they are. As for pictorial toys of animate beings, the preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to acquire them and place them anywhere in the house, based on the action of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her. However, they should not be placed in the prayer area so as not to distract the worshipper.
