It is not permissible for the questioner (sister) to use pictures of non- men as her profile pictures on the Internet, even if it is said that pictures of living beings are not forbidden. This is due to the corruption and dangers that arise from such an act, related to the mixing of genders. She can use other pictures that are not of men, and even not of living beings.
