What should I do about seeing forbidden things (haram) and not adhering to acts of obedience (ta'at), given that I am a 28-year-old single man? And why do I find it difficult to obtain forbidden things when I am not adhering to acts of obedience, whereas I easily get what I want when I adhere to obedience?

You must make sincere repentance, maintain prayer and all obligatory duties, and abandon forbidden acts. What will help you in this is frequent remembrance of God (dhikr), supplication (du'a), associating with righteous people, and striving against your own self (jihad al-nafs) to obey God. For whoever is sincere in striving, God will guide him, as He Almighty says: "And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways." (29:69) And the ease of obtaining the unlawful may be a test from God. Adhere firmly to the path of uprightness and do not deviate from it, for happiness lies in obedience to God and turning to Him, as He Almighty says: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do." (16:97)
