Which is a greater sin: adultery, or drinking alcohol and gambling?

Adultery, alcohol consumption, and gambling are among the major sins. Allah Almighty has made avoiding them a condition for expiating sins and elevating ranks. The greatest of these major sins is adultery, for it is an assault on honor and leads to great evils, and its punishment is more severe than that for alcohol consumption. Alcohol consumption is more severe than gambling, and ten individuals were cursed in relation to alcohol, which is the mother of all evils that leads to every wickedness. The matter may differ according to the evil and corruption that results from it, as alcohol may lead to greater harms than adultery in some cases. It is obligatory to distance oneself from all these major sins and to hasten to repent from them.
