Is it permissible to take back one's wife after a single divorce, knowing that the husband is aware she still harbors feelings for another man, and that her desire is for a child?

If the wife's righteous conduct, repentance, and desire to continue the marital life become apparent, then the husband should take her back under his protection and shield her from corruption, and not pay attention to whispers [of doubt]. It is recommended to frequently supplicate to Allah Almighty for righteous offspring and to take the necessary steps by consulting specialized doctors. One may also resort to lawful in-vitro fertilization (IVF) as explained in fatwa no. 30742.
